Sonia Rochel & Baby Bath

WHO IS BEHIND THIS NEW BABY BATH ?

Welcome to the official blog of what some people call “Baby Bath” or “Baby Spa”. In french i call it “Thalasso Bain Bébé”.

My name is Sonia Rochel.

I’m 51 years old, I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I am a new born nurse since 1978 and I perfected a new bathing approach for babies. The purpose of a part of my work is to show maternities, parents (etc.) how important the baby bath is.

“THALASSO BAIN BÉBÉ”, “BABY BATH OR SPA” ? WHAT IS IT ?

My new bathing approach is the result of a 24 years experience. I have always paid attention to babies’ wellbeing and have been noticing that too few people care about the baby bath whereas it is important to the baby and to the parents.

If you visit my blog, it probably means that you watched my video on YouTube. By the way, i can’t believe that this video has been having such a huge success since it has been watched more than 1.5 million times ! At the beginning, I just wanted to share a human experience but today i want to spread this baby bath all over the world because I deeply think it could help some parents with their babies.

The blog is, for now, available in English, as most of you speak this language, but do not worry ! Hopefully, this blog will be soon available in French, Spanish, Hebrew, Turkish, Italian etc.

Welcome to my blog and Thank you so much for your support !

Gracias ( siento no saber idiomas, perdóname)

  3. Absolutely beautiful! Couldn’t stop my tears, that is how touched I was. I have a two-month-old son and regret that he hasn’t experienced this from the moment he was born. Your work is amazing! Thank u :) )

  4. Greetings Sonia,

My best friend is due end of january 2013 and she’s asked me to be with her when her daughter will be born. I’ve shown her your video and she got very emotional. She wants me to bath her baby like shown in the video just after the delivery.

  5. Beautiful job! This is the way babies should be treated, this is what they deserve. Thank You for reminding people that such simple things are important and we can make both of us enjoy bathing by simply giving some love to our babies.

  6. Does this work for all newborns? My daughter, now 27, never liked water and would not be put in a bath until she was 18 months old, she still hates water and can only just swim.

  7. What a wonderful treat for babies… Fantastic. Bravo, Sonia! What is the music that is playing in this beautiful video? I would love to get the CD…. it is so calming…

  8. Your work is Fantastic! Thank you.
Your massage is really a treatment on all the child fluid body.
I spend all my Osteopatic education meeting person like u. . . .
May be one time. . . We can work together . . .

  9. Oh how beautiful !!! 10. Thanks for sharing that beautiful video. I’m also interested in taking a class – if and when they become available. This video was so moving!

  11. I don’t have children yet, but we having been trying for a feew years now and after seeing your video, wow. it’s something i will definitely try, as I am a massage therapist. lovely lovely video

  12. I’ve just watched your video. I have to say it’s amazing. The “Thalasso bain bébé” relaxed me too…
I’d like to help you with your multilingual blog. I’m spanish and I’d like to help you with the translation (if you want)…

  13. I loved your video and agree that a bath is such a lovely time to share with a baby. I have four grandchildren and still enjoy bathing them. They are 3,4,5 and 6 and I have been the first person to bathe all of them. It is such a serene time. Many thanks Sonia.

  14. I bathed my newborn this way this morning and it was wonderful! He was so relaxed! When i put his face under the water (except nose and mouth as shown in video) he completely relaxed and lay in my hands. I no longer dread bathing babies (this is my third and it’s never been a highlight for me). I took time bathing him and i think i enjoyed it as much as he did:) i needed this video, and your bathing tips. thank you so much for sharing it for free.

  15. Hello, Bonjour, Sonia
Thankyou so much for your film.
Both of my sons were delivered by the Frederic Le Boyer method, and I massaged them throughout their years as babies, according to a book that Le boyer brought out at the time called ‘ Loving Hands ‘. I am only too sorry that you are in France as I would love to come and learn your skills. You are amazing. I now work in a childrens hospital as a HealthCare Assistant and often advise new parents on the positive results that can be achieved through massage. Not just for the babies but also as a tool to help the parents bond more with their babies. If you ever come to England, please send me an email and let me know, as I know that our Neonate and Maternity Dept would just love a demonstration. I live about 1 hour from London by the ocean.
I will now be researching the Thalasso Method.
My sons, by the way, are now 33 and 28 years old. I am sure that early massage techniques have helped them to become the beautiful, tactile men that they are.
Keeping on spreading this amazing joy, Sonia and thankyou.
    All warm wishes
    Kathy Powell

    • Hi Kathy,

I loved this video and I also love Frederic Le Boyer’s book Loving Hands. I practiced as a massage therapist quite a few years ago and then and now it inspires me. I haven’t had children but I would love to and am interested in the Le Boyer method of delivery. I haven’t heard of this so more information or point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

      Kindest Regards,

      Kristen Frize

  16. I could see and FEEL the love and tenderness you are passing on to the baby. I cried because I could imagine all the harshness in the world go away.

  17. A wonderful video and I can fully understand the concept of what you do. As an ex-midwife I can see that the way you carry out the bathing is to replicate the experience of the newborn within the womb. Such a calming experience and it brought tears to my eyes. Well done Sonia!

  18. I have never felt so much at peace like I did watching your video. It was almost as if someone was taking care of me. The video is precious and I watch it often if I am low and it makes me cry sometimes. The video is special. Thank you and babies thank you for it .

  19. Dear Sonia,
Thank you for the really beautiful video. Tears in my eyes. Is there a option to learn from you? Just to feel it, to hear it and see it. I also give babymassages but what you do is more then this. It is for me no problem to come your way.
greetings from Saskia van Wees from Nederland

  20. Dear and respected Sonia,

You are great. Thank You for new great and uniqe video, video full of emotions…I cried…It’s wonderful to watch the magic that you do with those little, cute babies.

Greetings from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

  21. Hello, i want to say your work is wonderful and i can relate to that, by doing something similar. I work at a club based in Romania and our work is based around teaching infants and children how to be comfortable in water, how to play and discover new things while in the pool. I picked up your video from a share i got on Facebook and i shared it with my colleagues who were very impressed. We also participated at a congress held by FAAEL in France, back when Mr.Devatine was head of the association, and we were amazed, because the aquatic activities for children were so widespread in your country. I would like to hear from you, and again, you’re doing and amazing thing, keep it up.

  22. Hallo,

    Melanie

  23. I LOVE YOUR PASSION FOR YOUR ~”JOB”~
MAY GOD REWARD YOU! YOU ARE A BLESS FOR A LOT OF BABIES AND THEIR FAMILIES!
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOMEDAY IN ROMANIA TO TEACH THE MATERNITIS, PASRENTS, ETC. HOW IMPORTANT THE BABY BATH IS…AND HOW TO DO THAT…LOVE YOU!

  24. Hello, Sonia. Thank you so much for the video. Can you say something about adults drawing a warm bath and creating a saline solution with bicarbonate of soda and sea salt — for themselves? I am so moved by the video, having been a volunteer baby-holder in a Neonatal ICU for 12 years, I am going to recommend it to the nurses I know, as well as to the 5 nursing schools in the Houston TX area.

  25. Bonjour Sonia

    Bonne continuation,

    France

  27. I have been working with mothers and babies for 25yrs and have 3 children of my own. I have always felt a deep connection with babies and I have a gift of calming the most unsettled infant. I have NEVER seen or experienced anything as beautiful as what you have shared. Those lucky, lucky babies who have had the privilege of being bathed and cared for by you. What a gift you have and what a perfect start to life for these little ones! You inspire me. Thank you. XXX

  28. Dear Sonja, thank you for sharing your experience worldwide. I’m a mother of two daughters, one five year old and one month old baby. After watching the video on youtube I was so overwhelming that I couldn’t stop crying for few minutes. From now on we are really enjoying bath time with our baby and most important we take time to do it and do it with lots of love.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

i can’t even try to express my deep appreciation of your work and person!!

i am only 22 years old and i don’t have kids yet but this video changed my life!!

  32. Hi!
I’m deeply impressed by the way you tke care of babies..
I would like to know if is there any way I can learn more about it.. I would like to understand the basics of it and the beneficts to the baby.
Is it possible for all of us to perform it at home?
    Thx

    Merci!!!

  34. I work in a newborn nursery, not as a nurse but, I do believe this to be very beneficial to the nurses, the mothers, and any other contacts the baby has in it’s first hours outside the womb. What a wonderful way to acclimate. I hear is crying and I often wonder what we can do for them. That is their communication. I hope to spread this concept of yours to benefit all who have these little humans in their possesion.

What an act of kind human nature to do what you do at such a crucial time. It sets the precedent, I am sure, for the bonding to begin in a positive manner.

I noted that when I was raising kittens with the help of the mom

  35. Dear Sonia.

This is the most beautiful video, I have ever seen. This child is so safe and calm, just like when she was in her mother. Thank you for showing me and the world this practice.
I wish, I should have one more child, because I then would visit you to learn this bath. I have two children at 5 and 8, and I learn them and work with other kids and parents, how to heal and think with a great consciousness. This practice you do, is so much in alignment, with all that I believe in. Love.

    Thank you from Denmark

    Cecilia
